Score and Parts for Performance
Parts are for a regular big band line up of 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums. The score is untransposed. Doubles – baritone sax doubles on bass clarinet throughout, trumpets need harmon mutes and trombones need bucket mutes. Solos – trumpet and alto sax, but you can open up E for more solos if needed – don’t have too many solos though, a bass solo works well here. On live gigs we often let piano start with an open free solo at the start and then play bars 13-16 solo to cue the beginning of the piece.
Perform this music with your own big band! For each composition, PDFs of the score (untransposed) and the parts for all instruments are provided, along with a WAV file of our recorded version. Playalong WAV files are also provided for drums, bass, guitar, piano as well as a version where the improvised solos are muted – these are ideal for practicing.
